Old-Fashioned Gumbo
- 1 large, meaty soup bone or 2 to 3 round bottoms (try to get the latter with the bone and marrow still in)
- 1 lb. chicken parts (backs and wings can be utilized)
- 1 lb. okra, stemmed (preferably fresh; frozen a second choice)
- 6 ears fresh yellow corn (kernels from) or 12 to 16 oz. can frozen corn (please, no canned corn)
- 1 to 1 1/2 lb. fresh tomatoes, peeled, stemmed and cut in pieces (Ohio beefsteaks are good, canned whole tomatoes a so-so second choice)
- 6 to 8 ribs fresh celery, sliced
- Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to season
- 1 onion, chopped
- Use equal parts of peanut butter, chocolate syrup and light Karo syrup.
- Mix together and store in refrigerator.
- Take 1/2 pint jar and put some in it, leave out of refrigerator so you will have some ready to use.
- Very good.
