Hamburger Steaks
- 2 lbs ground chuck
- salt & pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 2 (7 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- Salt and pepper ground beef. Form into 6 patties.
- Brown in hot oil over medium high heat, about 2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan.
- Add onion and green pepper to pan. Saute about 5 minutes or until tender.
- Add tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce, and mustard. (I sometimes add a little Kitchen Bouquet at this point.).
- Blend and return hamburger patties to pan.
- Bring to boil, cover, and reduce heat.
- Simmer until patties are no longer pink, about 15 minutes.
- Remove cover and cook 5 minutes more.
