German Chocolate Pound Cake
- 1 (4 oz.) pkg. Baker's German's sweet chocolate
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. Adams imitation butter flavor
- 2 tsp. vanilla or Adams Best
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- Partially melt chocolate over hot water.
- Remove from hot water and stir rapidly until entirely melted.
- Cool.
- Cream sugar and shortening.
- Add eggs, flavorings and buttermilk.
- Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to shortening and mix well.
- Stir in chocolate until blended.
- Pour batter into a well-greased and floured 9-inch tube pan.
- Bake in a slow oven (300u0b0) about 1 1/2 hours.
- Remove from pan.
- While still hot, place under tightly fitting cover until thoroughly cooled.
- Tastes great with or without glaze.
