Denise'S Prize Winning Chili
- 2 lb. ground hamburg
- 1 c. chopped onions
- 2 (16 oz.) cans peeled tomatoes
- 2 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
- 2 c. diced green peppers
- 2 c. celery (leaves too)
- 3 (8 oz.) cans Hunt's tomato sauce
- 4 (6 oz.) cans Hunt's tomato paste
- 1 c. sliced green olives and 2 1/2 oz. of juice
- 3 Tbsp. sweet relish
- 5 medium sweet gherkins, sliced and 1 1/2 oz. of juice
- 1 tsp. Lipton onion soup mix
- 2 tsp. chili powder (add more if you like)
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 (28 oz.) can red kidney beans
- Brown hamburg and onions.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- In a large pot, add hamburg mixture and all the other ingredients, except the kidney beans, and cook over low heat.
- Cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally for 3 to 4 hours.
