Cocoa Apple Cake

  1. Scald milk.
  2. Beat egg yolks and add milk slowly.
  3. Add sugar, cornstarch and salt.
  4. Cook over hot water in a double boiler until mixture coats a spoon.
  5. Add dissolved gelatin to hot custard mixture.
  6. Chill until thick.
  7. Add egg whites, 1/2 cup sugar, Macadamia nuts and rum flavoring and fold into chilled custard mixture.
  8. Turn into a baked pie shell.
  9. Chill.
  10. To serve, top with whipped cream sprinkled with chopped Macadamia nuts.
