Polish Biga'S(Polish Sausage And Sauerkraut)

  1. Drain sauerkraut and add 2 cups water, caraway seed and sugar. Boil 10 minutes.
  2. Soak yellow split peas for 1 hour in 1 cup cold water.
  3. Boil until thick; add to sauerkraut.
  4. Saute onions in 2 tablespoons butter; add to sauerkraut mixture.
  5. Season with pepper.
  6. Set aside.
  7. Boil sausage for 1 hour in a little water. Take out and brown slightly in butter.
  8. Cut into 8 pieces and arrange on top of the sauerkraut.
  9. Serve with whole small potatoes, topped with fresh butter and dill.
