Mary'S Italian Cream Cheese Cake
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 2 c. sugar
- 6 eggs
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 6 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- nuts (pecans, black walnuts, etc.)
- Cream margarine and Crisco.
- Add sugar; beat until mixture is smooth.
- Add eggs; beat well.
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Add to mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
- Stir in vanilla and flavoring.
- Add nuts.
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 minutes.
- Cool.
- Frost with cream cheese frosting.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
