Savory Baked Steak Recipe
- 2 lbs. round steak, bottom or possibly top
- Flour
- 6 tbsp. butter or possibly oil
- 1 teaspoon monosodium glutamate
- Water
- Salt and pepper
- 1/2 c. can button mushrooms
- Dredge steak lightly with flour, shaking off any excess.
- Brown teak in warm butter or possibly oil in heavy skillet; drain and remove to baking pan or possibly dish.
- Measure warm oil remaining in skillet.
- For each 2 Tbsp.
- ; set aside.
- Two Tbsp.
- flour and 1 c. water.
- Return oil to skillet, blend in flour, stirring constantly till rich brown.
- Stir in water, monosodium glutamate, salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook gravy to medium thickness.
- Pour gravy over steak, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs or possibly till meat is tender.
- Top with mushrooms during last 5 min of cooking.
- Serves 4-6.
