Bertha Roberts' Dark Fruit Cake
- 4 c. plain flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 12 eggs
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. melted butter
- 1 c. milk
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1 lb. walnuts
- 1 lb. raisins
- 1 lb. currants
- 1 lb. dates
- 1/2 lb. mixed fruit
- 1/2 lb. cherries
- 1/2 lb. pineapple
- Mix brown and white sugars with butter and cream thoroughly. Sift the first 6 ingredients together and set aside.
- Add eggs one at a time.
- Add molasses.
- Add flour and milk alternately.
- Dredge all fruit with flour.
- Bake at 300u0b0 until done.
