Chow-Chow (Green Tomato Relish )

  1. Wash vegetables.
  2. Using coarse blade on food processer,grind onions, cabbage, green tomatoes and peppers.
  3. Sprinkle with pickling salt.
  4. Let mixture stand overnight.
  5. Rinse and drain.
  6. Combine sugar, mustard seed, celery seed, turmeric, vinegar and 2 cups (475 ml) water.
  7. Pour over vegetables.
  8. Bring to boil; boil gently 5 minutes.
  9. Fill hot Mason jars to within 1/2 inch of tops; adjust lids.
  10. Process jars in boiling water bath 5 minutes; start timing when water returns to a full boil.
  11. Makes 9 pints.
