Japanese-style Cake with Matcha and Kuromame

  1. Bring the butter to room temperature.
  2. Combine the flour with the matcha and sift 3 times.
  3. If the black beans are large, chop in half.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  5. Whisk the butter in a bowl until soft.
  6. Add sugar in 5 batches and mix well until white.
  7. Mix in the beaten eggs in small batches.
  8. Add the sifted powdered ingredients and black beans.
  9. Mix lightly with a rubber spatula.
  10. Mix until the dough becomes glossy.
  11. Pour into the mold lined with parchment paper, and bake for 35 to 45 minutes in the 180C preheated oven.
  12. Test the cake with a skewer and make sure it comes out clean.
