Mom's Dutch Apple Pie
- 1 cup flour
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 tbsp. water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 5 Jonathan apples,
- enough to fill crust
- Cinnamon and nutmeg, to taste
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/3 cup butter
- Crust: Cut shortening into dry ingredients.
- Add water gradually until just moistened.
- Roll and place into a 9-inch pastry dish.
- Filling: Fill unbaked crust with peeled, sliced apples.
- Add 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
- Bake at 450F for 15 minutes.
- Take out of oven.
- Cut butter into flour and sugar for topping.
- Spoon over partially baked pie.
- Bake at 350F degrees for an additional 45 minutes, or until the pie filling is bubbly.
