Grandma's Dr. Pepper Cake
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup Dr. Pepper
- 3 tbsp. cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 3 tbsp. cocoa
- 6 tbsp. Dr. Pepper
- 2-1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Grease and flour a bundt pan.
- In a saucepan, add butter, Dr. Pepper and cocoa until boiling.
- Remove from heat and cool.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla.
- In another mixing bowl, combine eggs, flour and sugar mixing well.
- Add all three mixtures and blend well.
- Pour into your prepared bundt pan and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
- When the cake is cooled, place it on your serving tray and pierce the cake with an icepick and make numerous holes in it.
- Prepare the frosting by combining the butter, cocoa and Dr. Pepper and bring to a simmer.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar.
- Let it cool a little then pour over the cake and serve.
