Homers Stew
- 1 lb pepper bacon, chopped
- 1 12 lbs round steaks, sliced
- 3 carrots, peeled and chopped
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 34 teaspoon salt
- 34 teaspoon pepper
- 1 12 cups water
- In a large skillet (with a lid), brown bacon over medium heat.
- Once brown, remove bacon and set aside.
- In bacon grease, brown steak.
- Return bacon to skillet and layer 1/3 of the potato slices on top of bacon and steak.
- Then layer 1/3 of the carrots and 1/3 of the onions.
- Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
- Repeat process (potatoes, carrots, onions, salt, pepper) two more times or until all ingredients have been placed in the skillet.
- Pour in water.
- Cover and simmer for approximately 25 minutes, while gently flipping potato mixture every 5 - 7 minutes.
- Meal is ready to enjoy once most of the water has been absorbed and the potatoes are cooked all the way through.
