Thompson's Cake

  1. Preheat oven at 325 degrees.
  2. Set to middle rack.
  3. Cream sugar and butter well.
  4. Add cinnamon applesauce and mix well.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each added.
  6. Sift flour and baking soda.Add sifted flour mix to creamed mixture in three additions, alternating with buttermilk, ending with the dry mixture.
  7. Mix well.
  8. The batter will be fairly thick.
  9. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 pan.
  10. Bake for an hour to hour and a half.
  11. Cool completely before frosting.
  12. A cream cheese frosting goes very well with this cake.
