Buffalo Chicken Calzone
- 1 pound Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
- Your Favorite Chicken Seasonings, To Taste
- 1/2 cups Hot Sauce (I Love Frank's)
- 1 can Pillsbury Refrigerated Pizza Dough, 13 Ounce Can
- 2- 1/2 Tablespoons Ranch Dressing
- 1- 1/2 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- Olive Oil And Your Favorite Seasoning, For Garnishing The Top Of The Calzone
- 1.
- Grill your chicken and season it as you normally do.
- I grill mine in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes per side (timing will depend on the size of the chicken breastsjust make sure the juices run clear).
- Then remove it from the pan and shred it with two forks or chop it with a knife.
- 2.
- Put the chicken into a small bowl and pour in 1/2 cup of hot sauce.
- Mix until the chicken is completely covered in sauce.
- 3.
- Preheat oven to 400 F. Take a large baking pan and grease it.
- Open the can of pizza dough (I used Pillsbury) and roll it out on the pan using a rolling pin.
- 4.
- Put the ranch dressing on one half of the pizza dough (leave a border around the edge without the dressing).
- 5.
- Spread the chicken over the ranch dressing and cover the chicken with mozzarella cheese (this will still leave one half of the dough untouched).
- 6.
- Fold the uncovered half of the dough over the chicken/cheese mixture and pinch around the edges to seal it.
- 7.
- Use a tiny bit of olive oil on top of the sealed calzone and add a bit of seasoning to add flavor (I like Italian seasoning for this).
- Using your fork, poke some holes in the top of the crust to let the steam out/ventilate.
- Or use a knife and slit the top of the dough a bit.
- 8.
- Bake at 400 F for about 17 minutes or until golden on top.
- Keep a close eye on it every 5 minutes.
- ALTERNATIVES: I have used BBQ sauce instead of hot sauce and it was amazing.
- You can also use bleu cheese dressing rather than ranch!
- You can also sub out fried chicken tenders instead of grilled.
- No matter what you do, it is delicious!
- Also, if youre feeding a big crowd, you can double the entire recipe and use the second pizza dough to cover the top one!
- Ive done this before and it worked just fine!
