Festive Ham Sushi for Girl's Day

  1. I used a cake pan.
  2. Line it with ham.
  3. Mix flaked salmon, finely scrambled egg and so on into the sushi rice.
  4. (Think up your own original combinations!)
  5. Put half of the mixed rice in the pan and press down.
  6. Add another layer of ham, and cover with mayonnaise.
  7. Layer shiso leaves and sliced cheese.
  8. Add the rest of the sushi rice.
  9. Put on a heavy heatproof container or a weight, and press down on the sushi rice hard.
  10. The blogger I got the idea from used dictionaries and phone books as weights.
  11. Invert and unmold onto a serving plate.
  12. When you cut it, it looks like a cake.
  13. Your dinner table will look so sumptuous!
  14. I tried decorating it on top withFish Sausage Roses.
  15. Doesn't it look fancy?
  16. Another version decorated with flower shaped kamaboko.
