Basic Meat Sauce Recipe
- 2 lbs. lean grnd beef
- 2 med. onions, diced
- 2 c. minced celery
- 1 lg. green pepper, minced
- 3 tbsp. salad oil
- 3 (15 ounce.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce.) can tomato paste
- 1/4 pound mushrooms, washed and sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- In large skillet, saute/fry onions, celery, green pepper, and garlic in salad oil till clear and somewhat golden brown in color.
- In Dutch oven, brown grnd beef well; drain off excess grease.
- Add in sauteed mix, seasonings, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and mushrooms.
- Simmer over low heat for 20-30 min, stirring occasionally.
- Serve over cooked pasta, or possibly use in lasagna or possibly chili.
