Delicious Babka Recipe
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. melted butter
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 3 Large eggs, beaten
- 5 c. sifted all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- Combine scalded lowfat milk, 1/4 c. sugar, salt and butter.
- Cold to lukewarm.
- Combine hot water in large mixing bowl stirring in yeast till dissolved.
- Blend with mix and Large eggs gradually.
- Beat in flour till smooth.
- Cover and rise in hot place till double in bulk.
- Stir down.
- Turn into greased and sugared 10 inch tube pan.
- Cover and let rise again double in bulk about 30 min.
- Mix remaining sugar and nutmeg and sprinkle on top.
- Bake at 400 degree oven for 40 min.
- Remove and cold 5 min (turn out).
