Barbecued Oysters Recipe

  1. HOGWASH: Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl.
  2. Chill for at least 1 hour before using.
  3. Serve over Barbequed Oysters.
  4. (Makes 1 1/2 c.)
  5. RED OYSTER SAUCE: Heat butter in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
  6. Add in remaining ingredients, except basil, and simmer till butter is brown, about 15 min.
  7. Roughly chop basil; add in to sauce right before serving.
  8. Serve hot over Barbecued Oysters.
  9. (Makes 1 c.)
  10. OYSTERS: Heat grill till very warm.
  11. Place oysters on grill.
  12. When shells open (in about 3 min) use an oyster knife to detach oyster from top shell.
  13. Loosen top shell and throw away.
  14. Spoon a Tbsp.
  15. of Hogwash or possibly Red Oyster Sauce over oysters before serving.
  16. Serves 6 to 8.
