Mom's Rice Pudding Recipe

  1. Wash rice twice; pour water through in a little tea strainer to catch rice; now, cover rice with water in a pot; bring too a boil on stove.
  2. When rice is boiling dry, add in lowfat milk, evaporated lowfat milk, sugar and vanilla.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top.
  4. Bring to a full rolling boil.
  5. Turn down flame.
  6. Keep stirring; cook about 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs.
  7. Cook till it begins to thicken, stirring often.
  8. Put raisins in saucepan and cover with water.
  9. Cook about 5 min; drain raisins; stir into rice pudding.
  10. Pour rice pudding into bowl.
  11. Will thicken as it cools.
  12. Put in refrigerator when cold, this is an old family recipe.
