The Best Banana Bread (And It's Healthy! Ww Friendly!)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup butter (softened)
- 34 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 bananas (medium, overripe)
- 13 cup applesauce (no sugar added)
- 13 cup mini chocolate chip
- set oven to 350 degrees.
- combine dry ingredients.
- in separate bowl cream together softened butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- mash bananas well with fork.
- stir applesauce into mashed bananas.
- stir this mixture into creamed butter mixture.
- add flour mixture to banana mixture until well moistened.
- at this point i often let the batter sit for about 20 minutes in a warm area.
- this increases the yummy banana flavor!
- stir in chocolate chips.
- spray a bundt pan with cooking spray and lightly flour (loaf pan works also, but i definitely prefer a bundt pan, the bread cooks faster and more evenly).
- pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean, loaf pan takes 60-65 minutes.
