Polish Egg Bread French Toast
- 8 1/2 inch thick slices of egg bread
- 1 1/2 cup half and half
- 2 large eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 3/4 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 dash allspice
- 2 tbsp butter, divided
- Here is the recipe for the egg bread.
- It is best to make the day before.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
- In a large deep sided platter, mix the half and half, eggs, yolk, cinnamon, sugar and allspice.
- Mix this very well.
- Soak each 1/2 inch slice of bread in mixture for 30 seconds each side.
- Add four slices and cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
- You want a golden color on the bread.
- Cook up second batch with the other half of butter.
- One tablespoon worth.
- Cook again for 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve with some bacon, sausages.
- Drizzle with syrup or honey.
