Oysters a la Russe

  1. Stir together vodka, lemon juice, horseradish, hot pepper sauce, sugar and salt.
  2. Gently stir in tomato and chives.
  3. Clean oysters under running water; shuck and discard top shell, sever membrane on bottom of shell.
  4. Spoon vodka relish on oysters.
  5. Dust with pepper and serve on a bed of shaved ice.
