Strawberry Jam Breadsticks

  1. In the bowl of a standing mixer, combine yeast and salt.
  2. Add honey and water.
  3. Mix with a paddle attachment for 2 minutes until slightly frothy.
  4. Change to a dough hook.
  5. Add olive oil and 1 cup flour.
  6. Mix until the flour is fully incorporated.
  7. Add in another cup of flour and mix it in, then mix in the remaining 1/4 cup.
  8. Let the mixer knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Place dough into an oiled bowl and cover with a sheet of plastic wrap.
  10. Let dough rise in a warm place (preferably close to a warm oven) for an hour.
  11. Or you can leave it at room temperature for at least 8 hours.
  12. When the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer to a floured board.
  13. Roll the dough into a thin sheet in the shape of a rectangle.
  14. Preheat oven to 420 F.
  15. Use an offset spatula to spread the strawberry jam on top of the sheet of dough.
  16. Slice the dough into 8 to 10 even strips.
  17. Twist each dough strip from both ends so that the dough spirals into a breadstick.
  18. Lay them on a parchment paper-lined sheet pan.
  19. Bake the breadsticks for 20 minutes until golden.
  20. Remove pan from oven and set it on a rack.
  21. Let the sticks cool for a moment then serve.
