Basic Bread Stuffing Recipe
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 lrg onion diced
- 1 c. diced celery - (to 2 c.)
- 12 c. toasted 1/2" bread cubes
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. dry sage (or possibly 1/4 c. chopped fresh sage)
- 1/2 c. minced parsley
- 1 c. turkey stock (or possibly 1 c. water or possibly lowfat milk)
- Heat butter in large stockpot.
- Add in onion and celery and cook till vegetables are tender but not browned.
- Add in to bread cubes in large bowl.
- Add in salt, pepper, sage and parsley and toss till well mixed.
- Add in turkey stock and blend well.
- Bake any excess stuffing in lightly greased casserole at 325 degrees till heated through, about 45 min to 1 hour.
- This recipe yields sufficient to stuff a 12- to 14-lb.
