Batter White Bread Recipe
- 6 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
- 2 pkt "Instant Dry Yeast"
- 3 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Salt
- 3 c. Hot water
- 2 Tbsp. Shortening
- Butter
- No kneading necessary on this one folks.
- Oven 375 degrees
- In large mixer bowl, combine 3 1/2 c. flour, yeast, sugar and salt Mix well.
- Add in hot water (125 degrees or possibly so) and shortening to flour mix.
- Blend at low speed till moistened, beat 3 min at med.
- speed.
- By hand, gradually stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
- Cover and allow to rise in hot place till double.
- About 30 mins.
- Stir down batter.
- Spread in greased 9x5 or possibly 8x4 bread pans.
- Cover and allow to rise till batter reaches tops of pans, (about 20-30 mins) Bake at 375 degrees for about 35-40 mins til golden.
- Remove from the pans and brush with butter.
- Allow to cold.
