Crisp Oatmeal Treasures
- 3/4 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar granulated
- 1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening soft
- 1 each eggs
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats uncooked
- 1/4 cup nuts chopped
- Sift together flour, soda and salt into bowl.
- Add sugars, shortening, egg and vanilla.
- Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Stir in oats and nutmeats.
- Shape dough to form roll; warp in waxed paper and chill several hours or overnight.
- Cut into 1/4 inch slices.
- Place on ungreased cooky sheets.
- Bake in preheated moderate oven 10 to 12 minutes.
