Sausage Apple Stuffing Recipe
- 1 (14-16 ounce.) ready to stuff turkey
- 1 pound bulk pork sausage
- 1 lg. cooking apple, peeled and minced
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 1 c. celery, minced
- 8 c. day old bread cubes, not dry
- 3 Large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 stick butter, melted
- Over medium heat brown sausage; breaking apart with fork into small pcs.
- Remove from pan and put aside.
- Pour all but 1/4 c. fat from pan.
- Add in to pan apple, onion and celery and cook over medium heat till celery is tender, about 10 min; stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat.
- In large bowl, put bread cubes and add in apple mix.
- Beat Large eggs; add in seasonings to egg mix and mix thoroughly.
- Add in sausage to bread cube mix, then add in Large eggs with seasonings.
- Mix well.
- Slowly add in melted butter and toss thoroughly.
- Stuff turkey as usual.
