Lentils
- 2 cup lentils
- 3 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp chilli paste
- 2 slice bacon
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1 salt
- 1 pepper
- 1 oil
- 3 bay leaf
- 6 cup hot water
- wash lentils.
- make sure there isn't any bad ones there or small rocks.
- in a pot add a bit of oil about 3 table spoons.
- add onions garlic and bacon .
- saute till bacon releases some fat and onions and garlic get translucent.
- add rinsed lentils and allow them to soak up some flavors maybe about 10 minutes.
- add chilli paste
- add warm water
- toss in bay leaves.
- add salt pepper to taste but don't forget bacon is salty so don't over do it.
- cover on med heat but leave lid open slightly.
- you can sub sausage in place of bacon.
- you can add small pieces of potato if you like.
- my grandmother would add bits of pumpkin.
- let it all cook for about 45 minutes.
- don't let it dry out.
- if you see it's getting dry turn off heat and close lid.
- also remember to remove leaves at the end.
