Eva's Beans

  1. In a large pot, put the beans, bacon, oregano and cumin.
  2. Add the beer, and water.
  3. Simmer until the beans are almost tender (maybe 1 to 1 1/2 hours).
  4. Add the tomatoes and jalapenos, and cook until beans are fully tender.
  5. Add the cilantro, and re-heat for about a half hour.
  6. Salt to taste.
  7. These make a good basic bean.
  8. If you want a bean soup, remove about a quarter of the beans, and mash with a potato masher.
  9. Return to the pot.
