Peanut Butter Brownie Bars

  1. Heat oven to 350F.
  2. Melt 1 cup butter and baking chocolate in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, 2-3 minutes or until smooth.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Combine sugar and eggs in bowl; beat until thick and lemon-colored.
  5. Add flour and melted chocolate mixture; beat until well mixed.
  6. Pour batter into ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
  7. Bake 22-26 minutes until brownie is set.
  8. Cool completely.
  9. Combine peanut butter and 1/2 cup butter in bowl.
  10. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
  11. Add powdered sugar and milk; beat at low speed until well mixed.
  12. Spread over cooled brownie layer.
  13. Cover; refrigerate 1 hour until firm.
  14. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth.
  15. Drizzle mixture over peanut butter layer.
  16. Refrigerate until chocolate is set.
  17. Cut into bars.
  18. Store refrigerated.
