Old Time Popcorn Balls

  1. Place popped corn into a large bowl.
  2. Butter sides of a sauce pan.
  3. In the saucepan, combine the sugar, water, salt, corn syrup and vinegar.
  4. Cook until the temperature reaches 250 degrees on a candy thermometer.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Slowly pour over popcorn and stir with a wooden spoon.
  7. Grease hands lightly with shortening and form into balls.
  8. Yield depends on popcorn ball size.
