- 2 quart Water, about
- 1/2 c. Liquid smoke, additional
- 1 bot (32-ounce) ketchup (any brand will do)
- 1/2 c. Dark Karo syrup Liquid smoke to taste, usually from about 1/4 to 1/3 c.
- Use an entire box of Arrowhead Mills seitan (or possibly any other which might be more convenient for you).
- Start by mixing the seitan with 50% water and 50% liquid smoke.
- Follow the direction on the box for kneading the seitan.
- IGNORE the usual broth recipe.
- Pour in about two qts of water into that you have added another half c. of liquid smoke.
- Bring to a boil, then add in the seitan.
- Reduce to a rolling simmer and cover for five min.
- Remove the cover and continue cooking in a gently rolling simmer.
- After two hrs, turn the seitan over and pour in more water and some more liquid smoke.
- Cook for two more hrs and it's done.
- Store the seitan, as usual, in the broth, keeping it totaly submerged at all times.
- When you're ready, THINLY slice it and heat on foil over a barbecue for just a few moments, add in BBQ sauce and anyone who can tell it from m**t has better taste buds than I do.
- Now if you do not want to buy a pre-made BBQ sauce you can try this recipe: MMmmmmmmmmm GOOD!
- It's to LIVE for!
- And wish them all a VY 73 from a YL who's been a ham radio operator for 38 years.
- I'd give you my call letters, but I've got a 2X1 call and lots of guys still aren't ready for lady Extras.
