Parmesan Pepper Wreath

  1. Place 1/2 cup warm water in large bowl.
  2. Sprinkle yeast; stir until dissolved.
  3. Add remaining water, sugar, pepper, salt and 1 cup flour; blend well.
  4. Stir in whole egg, Parmesan cheese, and enough flour to make soft dough.
  5. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  6. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top.
  7. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in size (30 to 45 minutes).
  8. Punch dough down.
  9. Remove dough to lightly floured surface, divide into 3 equal pieces.
  10. Roll each piece to 28 inch rope; braid ropes.
  11. Place on greased baking sheet.
  12. Form braid into circle; pinch ends together to seal. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in size (20 to 40 minutes).
  13. Brush with egg white.
  14. Sprinkle with pepper.
  15. Bake at 375u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
  16. Let cool on wire rack.
  17. Makes 1 loaf.
