Fried Green Tomatoes
- 2 large green tomatoes, sliced
- 12 cup flour
- 12 cup cornmeal
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon steak spice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- vegetable oil (for frying)
- Pour oil into a frying pan so it is about 1/4 in thick and turn stove on to medium-high.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and steak spice.
- Dip tomato slices in egg, then transfer to flour mixture until coated.
- Repeat this process a second time, so the batter will be thick on outside of tomatoes.
- Place coated tomato slices into frying pan.
- Brown on both sides.
- Remove slices from pan and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot (with ranch dressing if desired).
