Deep Dish French Toast Recipe
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 4 tbsp. corn syrup
- 1 lg. loaf French bread
- 2 apples, cored & sliced
- 10 Large eggs
- 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Using microwave, heat butter in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
- Add in brown sugar and corn syrup.
- Stir well.
- Bring to boil (microwave about 2 min on high).
- Stir again.
- On this syrup base, arrange fruit in slightly overlapping rows.
- Cut the bread into 1/2 inch slices and place them on top of the fruit, fitting them in rather closely.
- Beat the Large eggs, lowfat milk and vanilla.
- Pour mix proportionately over the bread.
- Be sure to cover the edges completely.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon or possibly nutmeg if you like.
- Cover, chill overnight.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min to serve, cut into pcs and turn each over onto plate, so fruit is on top.
- Serves 8-10.
- Blueberries, peaches, pineapple.
