Tasty Tea Baked Apples
- 1 cup water
- 4 green tea bags (Lipton is good)
- 4 large baking apples, cored (Rome or Golden Delicious is good)
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 teaspoons butter or 4 teaspoons margarine
- Preheat oven to 350*F.
- In a 1 quart saucepan, bring water to a boil; remove from heat.
- Add tea bags and brew 1 1/2 minutes, dunking occasionally.
- Remove tea bags and squeeze; set aside.
- Peel top one-third of each apple.
- In an 8-inch square baking dish, arrange apples, peeled end up; set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, walnuts, raisins and cinnamon.
- Evenly spoon walnut mixture into center of apples, then evenly top with butter.
- Pour tea over and around apples.
- Bake apples uncovered, basting occasionally, 1 hour or until tender.
- Enjoy!
