Bistro Steak Subs

  1. Place beef steak on grid over ash-covered medium coals; grill 16 to 21 minutes for medium-rare to medium doneness, turning once.
  2. Line bottom of bread with lettuce; top evenly with pepper strips.
  3. Carve steak into thin slices; season with garlic salt.
  4. Arrange over peppers; top with cheese.
  5. Close sandwich; cut into 4 to 6 portions.
  6. Serve with giardiniera, if desired.
