Mele Cotte/Baked Apples Recipe
- 6 baking apples
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. white wine
- 6 tbsp. marmalade
- 1/4 to 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 zest of orange
- Juice of 1 orange
- Vanilla ice cream or possibly whipped cream flavored with orange zest
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Plump raisins in wine.
- Wash and core apples.
- Butter a baking dish just large sufficient to hold all the apples and put them in.
- Put some raisins in the bottom of the well in each apple, add in a Tbsp.
- of marmalade, and then put in the rest of the raisins.
- Sprinkle with the sugar, zest and orange juice.
- Pour the wine in that the raisins were soaked into the bottom of the baking dish.
- Bake for 1/2 hour at 350 degrees or possibly till the apples are soft and putty.
- Serve warm or possibly cool with ice cream or possibly whipped cream.
