Gefulte Lebkuchen

  1. Boil up honey, sugar & spices
  2. Cool and when cool enough, add melted butter, beaten eggs
  3. Add bicarb mixed with a little cold water
  4. Add flour in aliquots
  5. Allow to stand overnight
  6. Divide into 2 portions and roll out approximately 2mm thick
  7. Place one portion on a greased swiss roll pan
  8. Spread filling over first layer, then sandwich with the other dough portion rolled out
  9. Press down a little and prick with a fork
  10. Bake at 180 for 25 minutes
  11. When cold, cut into squares.
  12. Coat all over like a petit four if you can with glace chocolate icing.
  13. Roll in nuts to finish
