Beef Stroganoff Recipe
- 2 lbs. top round (or possibly any other lean beef)
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 sm. - med. onion, grated
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 3/4 pound sliced mushrooms
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/4 c. white cooking wine
- 1 c. lowfat sour cream
- Cut steak into 1/2" slices, lb.
- them with a mallet till thin; set aside.
- Heat 1 Tbsp.
- butter in pan.
- Saute/fry 1 small to medium grated onion for about 2 min.
- Saute/fry the beef for about 2 min.
- Turn so which it will be browned proportionately.
- Remove and keep it warm.
- Add in 2 Tbsp.
- butter to pan; stir and saute/fry in the butter 3/4 pounds mushrooms.
- Add in the beef, season with salt and pepper to taste, nutmeg, basil.
- Add in white cooking wine and lowfat sour cream and heat but don't boil.
- Serve with egg noodles.
