Black Walnut Cookies Recipe
- 2 1/2 c. Sifted flour
- 2 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 c. Shortening
- 3/4 c. Sugar, granulated or possibly brown
- 1/2 c. Dark corn syrup
- 2 x Large eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 c. Black walnuts, minced
- 1/4 c. Lowfat milk
- Sift together flour, baking pwdr and salt.
- Cream shortening.
- Add in sugar gradually and cream till light and fluffly.
- Add in corn syrup; blend thoroughly.
- Add in Large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla and nuts.
- Add in sifted dry ingredients, alternately with lowfat milk.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet.
- Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 12-15 min.
- Makes 5 dozen cookies.
- **Pecans can besubstituted for walnuts.
