Aunt Hilda'S Brown Sugar Pound Cake
- 1 lb. light brown sugar
- 2 sticks margarine
- 5 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. sweet milk or 2/3 c. sweet and 1/2 c. canned milk
- 1 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. walnut flavoring
- Cream the margarine and Crisco well.
- Add sugar (mix brown and white sugars together).
- Beat real well.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating at least 1 per minute.
- Add flour and milk alternately. Stir in flavoring and nuts.
- Pour in greased and floured tube pan and place in cold oven.
- Turn to 325u0b0 and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Do not open oven door until cake has baked at least 1 hour.
- (May need to be cooked 15 minutes longer.)
