Harvest Tea Loaf

  1. Cream shortening and surgar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add squash.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
  5. Reserve 1/4 cup flour mixture and work it into the dates and nuts.
  6. Add flour mixture to squash mixture.
  7. Stir dates and nuts into batter.
  8. Turn batter into greased 9 x 5 x 3-1/2 inch pan.
  9. Bake at 350F about 1 hour or until done.
  10. Makes 1 loaf.
