Double Berry Pandowdy

  1. Heat oven to 400F.
  2. Combine blackberries, raspberries, 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup flour in bowl.
  3. Pour into ungreased 8-inch square (2-quart) baking dish.
  4. Combine remaining sugar, remaining flour, baking powder and salt in another bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add buttermilk; mix with fork just until dough forms a ball.
  6. Roll out dough into 8-inch square on lightly floured surface.
  7. Cut several slits in dough with sharp knife.
  8. Lay pastry gently over prepared fruit.
  9. Sprinkle dough with 1 teaspoon sugar.
  10. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
  11. Reduce oven temperature to 350F.
  12. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
