Sausage Bakewells

  1. Preheat oven to 400F/Mark 6.
  2. Squeeze sausages at centre, twist, and cut to make each one into two.
  3. Roll out pastry and cut into circles to fit muffin tin.
  4. Push pastry into a pregreased tin.
  5. Add to the base 1/2tsp apple sauce, top with a small sausage and slice of apple and onion.
  6. Mix together cheese and breadcrumbs and sprinkle a spoonful on top of each tart.
  7. Bake for about 25 minutes, until pastry is puffed and golden and sausage browned and cooked.
  8. Serve as a snack with vegetables or mixed salad, or cold in a lunchbox or picnic.
