Misr Allecha

  1. Soak lentils for one hour.
  2. Cook for 1/2 hour.
  3. Drain.
  4. Mash and set aside.
  5. In dry pan over moderate low heat, stir fry the onion and garlic for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the oil and stir fry for 1 minute more.
  7. Add the mashed lentils, tumeric, salt and chili.
  8. Mix well.
  9. Add the water and cook for 3-4 mins longer to reduce the mixture to a thick, red, well spiced puree.
  10. Serve warm with Injera.
