Stir-Fried Water Spinach (Stir-Fried Ong Choy)

  1. First, go out and buy some water spinach. There wasn't any at the local supermarket, so I ordered some from a farm in Shizuoka through Rakuten.
  2. Cut the water spinach.
  3. Cut the stems into about 3 cm lengths and the leaves into about 5 cm pieces (easy-to-eat sizes).
  4. Heat the frying pan over high heat, add the sesame oil and finely chopped garlic, and the thinly sliced red chili peppers.
  5. Lightly stir-fry.
  6. When the garlic has browned, add the stems.
  7. When they have cooked, add the leaves and stir-fry.
  8. Once it comes out like this, it's ready.
  9. Season with some salt.
