Brats in Beer

  1. In a 4 1/2 litre slow cooker, combine bratwurst, ale, onion, brown sugar and vinegar.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
  3. Cut bratwurst into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  4. For mini open-faced sandwiches, spread mustard on cocktail rye bread.
  5. Top with bratwurst slices and cooked onion.
